But, if you were going to make your own Survivor Series team out of tag-teams, which ones would you choose? You’d want the best most dominant tag-teams, perhaps two men who are unbeaten together at Survivor Series, in a Traditional Survivor Series match, or otherwise.
You can follow Sportskeeda’s live updates and coverage of Survivor Series 2017 right here.
Unfortunately, there haven’t been a great deal of straight tag-team matches at Survivor Series and most of the tag-teams in this list have only competed in one match with each other at Survivor Series, with the best-undefeated record for any tag-team in the history of the WWE only being 1-0.
Nevertheless, there are at least ten tag-teams who can say they are unbeaten at Survivor Series, even if it was just one match, here they are.
#10 The Nexus (Justin Gabriel & Heath Slater)
Nexus was one of the most dominant factions to ever appear in the WWE, from the moment they debuted and destroyed everything and everyone in front of them. So it should come as no surprise that they can boast an undefeated tag-team record to their list of accomplishments.
More specifically the tag-team of Heath Slater and Justin Gabriel can claim that honour as they successfully defended the WWE Tag-Team Titles against the unorthodox pairing of Santino Marella and Vladimir Kozlov.
Whilst the Nexus eventually petered out due to some bizarre booking decisions, one of these guys would go on to form another tag-team that is undefeated at Survivor Series, more on that later!
#9 The Miz and Damien Sandow
The Miz and Damien Mizdow (Sandow) were steadily getting over as the arrogant movie star with the hired stunt double, a gimmick that Damien Sandow grasped with both hands and made a roaring success, imitating The Miz’s every move.
Whilst their partnership ultimately didn’t really go anywhere, when it really should have, at least the two men can claim that together they are undefeated at Survivor Series by winning a Tag-Team Fatal Fourway match for the Tag-Team Titles.
From that match, only the Usos remain as a tag-team in the WWE, with Cody Rhodes leaving the company, Los Matadores being repackaged yet again, and Damien Sandow being released.
#8 Mr Perfect and Randy Savage
Individually they’re two of the most iconic and beloved Superstars to ever set foot inside a WWE ring, both are WWE Hall of Famers, and when they’re together, they’re undefeated as a tag-team at Survivor Series.
This is an amazing feat when you consider that their opponents were a team as equally legendary, Ric Flair and Razor Ramon. Technically Mr Perfect and Randy Savage didn’t actually win the match, as they were awarded the victory via disqualification with Ric Flair and Razor Ramon breaking tag-team rules to attack Mr Pefect until the refs had to end the match.
Sadly neither Curt Hennig, nor Randy Savage are still with us, but they’ll always have that spotless record as a tag-team at Survivor Series to add to their incredible list of accomplishments.
#7 The Dudley Boyz
Both D-Von Dudley and Bubba Ray Dudley have competed in many Traditional Survivor Series matches together at the titular pay-per-view, but only once have they competed in a tag-team match, but what a match it was.
The Dudley Boyz took on Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy aka The Hardy Boyz in a battle of the ‘boyz’ and also a battle of the tag-team champions in a unification title match. In case that wasn’t enough, it was also a steel cage match, which the Dudley Boyz won to unify the WCW and WWF Tag-Team titles.
Both tag-teams went on to leave the company and eventually return, although the Dudley Boyz then left again. Currently, the Hardys are with the WWE, but Jeff Hardy is out injured.
#6 Edge and Christian
Widely regarded as one of the best tag-teams to ever grace the squared circle, Edge and Christian have had incredible WWE careers, both as a tag-team and as singles wrestlers. But on top of all of the title wins, they can add unbeaten together at Survivor Series to their trophy cabinet.
Surely a tag-team such as Edge and Christian competed in a Survivor Series match worthy of their stature, a barn-stormer of a match like the Dudley Boyz vs the Hardy Boyz in the steel cage? Actually no, the only time the two teamed up in a straight tag-team match at Survivor Series, was on the pre-show Sunday Night Heat in a winning effort against Funaki and Essa Rios.
Both Edge and Christian had to retire from the WWE because of injuries sustained whilst within the ring, however, the pair has continued to team up as hosts of their podcast, The Edge and Christian Show.
#5 Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch
Lance Cade was a smooth talking cowboy, and Trevor Murdoch was an angry southern trucker, together they were the redneck tag-team Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch and they are unbeaten at Survivor Series.
The tag-team who were with WWE for three years, only competed in one match at Survivor Series, during which they successfully defended their WWE World Tag-Team Championship against Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes.
The pair were released by the WWE and started taking independent bookings as a tag-team. Tragically Cade passed away from heart failure at the age of 29, prematurely cutting the tag-team short.
#4 The Bunny and Adam Rose
The Bunny may have had a short in-ring career when it graduated from being one of Adam Rose’s Rosebuds to a fully fledged wrestler, but alongside Adam Rose, the Bunny can say that it will always be undefeated at Survivor Series.
At Survivor Series Adam Rose and The Bunny took on the team of Heath Slater and Titus O’Neil otherwise known as Slater-Gator. To the chagrin of Adam Rose and the delight of the WWE Universe, it would be The Bunny who would pick up the pinfall victory.
Obviously, we now know that The Bunny was Justin Gabriel, making him undefeated in two separate tag-teams at Survivor Series. Sadly for Gabriel, his former tag-team partner Heath Slater has also managed to accomplish the same thing as you’ll see in the next entry.
#3 3MB (Heath Slater and Jinder Mahal)
3MB may have found themselves firmly in the comedy jobber faction position during their spell as a team in the WWE, but Heath Slater, Jinder Mahal and Drew Mcintyre are actually unbeaten at Survivor Series.
Interestingly Slater’s victory with Jinder Mahal as 3MB came against Santino Marella, the man he beat previously at Survivor Series as part of Nexus. This time around, however, Marella’s tag-team partner was Zack Ryder, but Team CoBro couldn’t topple Slater’s impressive Survivor Series record.
Things are looking good for the individual 3MB members, Jinder Mahal had an impressively long World Title run on SmackDown, Drew Mcintyre is the current NXT Champion and Heath Slater has found himself yet another tag-team partner in Rhyno.
#2 Daniel Bryan and CM Punk
There was a time when the Wyatt family were a dominant mysterious force who were rampaging through the WWE roster, attacking both Daniel Bryan and CM Punk. They used to be such a threat that the only way to stop them was to have two of the top wrestlers in the WWE in Punk and Bryan team up.
That’s right, the dream pairing of CM Punk and Daniel Bryan met Luke Harper and Erick Rowan at Survivor Series to put an end to the Wyatt Family’s brutal backstage and in-ring attacks and unsurprisingly they were successful.
Unfortunately for the WWE Universe neither Punk nor Bryan’s career with the WWE ended well, with Punk leaving and Bryan being forced into a General Manager role after being deemed unfit to compete following several concussions.
#1 The Rock and John Cena
The Rock and John Cena had one of the best feuds of recent memory, with the pair seemingly being greatly at odds with each other, but they were forced to team up at Survivor Series when The Miz and R-Truth teamed up with devastating results, so devastating that only the Rock’s in-ring return alongside Cena could sort them out.
Naturally, the ‘Most Charismatic Team of All Time’ triumphed over The Awesome Truth in the main event of Survivor Series 2011, allowing Cena to get some revenge for their interference in his title match against Alberto Del Rio earlier that year.
The Rock is currently in the middle of another hiatus from the WWE but John Cena is scheduled to appear at Survivor Series 2017 to join team SmackDown LIVE
