This means that WrestleMania is now only four months away, which means that there are a number of Superstars whose potential matches at the event are already being speculated. Who will win The Royal Rumble? Will Roman Reigns main event his fourth consecutive WrestleMania? These are the questions that currently haunt the WWE Universe.
This is the biggest event of the year, which means that there will be a lot of twists and turns on the road to WrestleMania as there is every year, but as of right now, it seems that there are already a number of speculated matches ahead of the event.
#10 Asuka vs. Paige
The Women’s Division on Raw and SmackDown has been blown wide open over the past week with the introduction of five new female stars and the return of Paige. Asuka wasn’t part of the invasion of Raw and it is thought that WWE will continue to protect the Undefeated former NXT Champion over the next few weeks.
Asuka and Paige are the only two undefeated NXT Women’s Champions in the history of the brand, since Paige was also forced to relinquish her NXT Championship after she won the Divas title on her debut back in 2014.
The first ever Women’s Champion up against arguably the best ever NXT Champion could be an interesting formula for a WrestleMania match, especially since the build-up could have already begun with Paige’s WWE return this past week.
#9 The Usos vs. The Authors Of Pain
The Usos have been unstoppable on SmackDown over the past year and have had some show-stealing matches against The New Day over the past few months. SmackDown Live seem to be running out of challengers for the two real-life brothers, which could be why their next challengers are still yet to debut on the main roster.
The Authors of Pain are former NXT Tag Team Champions, the dominant duo recently competed in NXT’s first ever War Games match and could be the ones to step up to challenge The Usos in the coming months.
It was recently reported that WWE was looking for the best time for Akam and Rezar to make their main roster debut and it seems that given the fact that The Usos have been heavily pushed over the past few months and even came out on top for their brand at Survivor Series, there is something huge coming for the Samoan stars in the new year.
#8 Braun Strowman vs. Samoa Joe
Braun Strowman has been the subject of one of the biggest pushes the company has given to a Superstar since Roman Reigns, over the past few months. The Big Show put over The Monster Among Men in a steel cage match a few months ago, before Triple H followed suit at Survivor Series and Kane could be the next star to step aside for WWE’s budding monster.
Another man who has been climbing through the ranks on the Raw roster over the past few months is Samoa Joe.
The former two-time NXT Champion could be the one that Triple H decides to call to fix the problem he currently has with Strowman if their issues continue, which would build nicely into a first singles WrestleMania match for both men.
#7 Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz
One of the biggest matches that has been building in WWE over the past year is the inevitable in-ring encounter between Daniel Bryan and The Miz. The duo laid all of the groundwork for their feud when Talking Smack was still a weekly show and Miz has recently commented on the fact that he wants to step in the ring with Bryan one more time.
Daniel’s WWE contract runs out next year, which means that he could go back to the Independent Circuit and have this match in front of a couple hundred people, or much like Seth Rollins match against Triple H last year, the company can call it a non-sanctioned match, which means that if Bryan gets injured then they can’t be sued.
The WWE Universe will get what they want, Bryan will get what he wants and The Miz will finally have the chance to face the former World Champion again. It seems like a win-win situation if WWE agrees to it.
#6 John Cena vs. Jinder Mahal
If Jinder Mahal is able to win back the WWE Championship from AJ Styles at Clash of Champions next month, it is highly likely that he will once again have a lengthy title reign.
It is unknown how WWE will set up this match to allow Cena to fight for the WWE Championship since a win for Cena at The Royal Rumble is not something that the WWE Universe would enjoy, but it is thought that this could be Cena’s match at WrestleMania next year.
Jinder and Cena have had a number of encounters before, but this would be the first time the duo have faced off at WrestleMania as well as being Jinder’s first singles match on The Grandest Stage of Them All. It seems that Jinder is destined for great things in 2018.
#5 Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose
Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose are currently two-thirds of The Shield and are on a quest to win back their Raw Tag Team Championships. It seems that The Shield were never expected to have a lengthy spell as a team following their reunion a few months ago but this time the split could be down to Dean Ambrose.
The Lunatic Fringe has been the member of The Shield who has been overlooked over the past few years, he hasn’t main evented WrestleMania or been able to compete with Seth Rollins popularity, which could be why he is set to turn on Rollins to set up a match between the duo at WrestleMania 34.
Rollins and Ambrose have never faced each other at WrestleMania, but they have had some show-stealing matches over the past few years both with and against each other. Heel Dean Ambrose is someone that the WWE Universe has been hoping to meet ever since he made his WWE debut and it could be the character change that redefines Ambrose’s career.
#4 Charlotte Flair vs. Ronda Rousey
Charlotte Flair is one of the best female wrestlers that WWE has on their main roster currently which is why it is thought that the current SmackDown Women’s Champion could be set to have one of the biggest matches of her career at WrestleMania 34.
Ronda Rousey has been at WWE’s Performance Centre over the past few months and it seems that if WWE wants the former UFC Champion to make her wrestling debut in the near future, then WrestleMania would be the perfect place and Charlotte would be the perfect opponent.
Charlotte has beaten just about every woman who has stepped in her way over the past few years and once she’s brushed aside the current challenge from NXT, it seems that the toughest challenge of her career could await her.
#3 AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
AJ Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura faced off at Wrestle Kingdom 10, and it seems that ever since the duo were placed on the same brand in WWE, the company has been building towards a rematch.
There have been a number of segments between these two on SmackDown that have been seen as WWE’s way of teasing the match ever since Shinsuke Nakamura made his debut on the SmackDown Live roster.
AJ and Nakamura have a lengthy history in the wrestling business and their careers have entwined a number of times, but a match on the Grandest Stage Of Them All would definitely be their biggest.
AJ has had matches against Chris Jericho and Shane McMahon at the past two WrestleMania events whilst this would be Nakamura’s first WrestleMania match.
#2 Triple H vs. Kurt Angle
This past weekend at Survivor Series Triple H dropped a number of hints about who he could be facing at WrestleMania 34. Triple H ensured that Angle was eliminated from his team at Survivor Series, merely a week after he Pedigreed his son in front of him on Monday Night Raw.
Angle has obviously been cleared for a return to the ring since he has had two matches in the main events of both TLC: Tables, Ladders and Chairs and Survivor Series over the past two months.
Whilst this wouldn’t be a show-stealing match by any means, it seems that this could be another nostalgic match that the company want to put together for some of their loyal longtime supporters.
#1 Roman Reigns vs. Brock Lesnar
Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar have been destined to collide at WrestleMania for the second time ever since their match at WrestleMania 31 wasn’t given a definitive ending because of Seth Rollins’ Money in the Bank cash-in.
Lesnar has been on a roll ever since he won the Universal Championship from Goldberg at WrestleMania 33, and there’s a reason the Roman hasn’t stepped up to challenge The Beast for the title over the past few months.
It seems that both men have been pushed into a position where either man could win the match at WrestleMania, but if Roman comes out on top against someone like Brock, who has brushed aside so many challengers recently, it could be the moment where he finally becomes the star that WWE has always wanted him to be.
