In order to intrigue the fans, Superstars try to give their absolute best in the ring, and on the mic. Sometimes though, to get a big reaction out of the fans, a Superstar would say something incredibly tasteless, or perform an act that a fan just wouldn’t expect to see on live TV.
There have been several instances in the past where a Superstar crossed the line, to get a strong reaction out of the fans. Let’s take a look at 10 of these instances.

#10 Michael Cole mocks Jim Ross
Back in 2010-12, WWE experimented with Michael Cole by turning him into a heel announcer. This run kicked off with Cole belittling Daniel Bryan on NXT. On an episode of RAW, Cole showed the fans a bunch of photoshopped pictures of Jim Ross. The photos were in bad taste and poorly received by the fans in attendance. #9 Brock Lesnar makes it personal with The Undertaker
Back in 2002, The Undertaker and Brock Lesnar fought over The Beast Incarnate’s WWE title. The angle soon took a turn for the worse, as The Deadman’s then-wife Sara got involved in the mix. On an episode of SmackDown, Lesnar and Heyman invaded Sara’s room, forcing The Undertaker to run to the back, where he was attacked by Lesnar.
Lesnar then confronted Sara in a disturbing visual and left the scene soon after, leaving her to tend to a fallen Undertaker.
#8 JBL confronts Eddie Guerrero’s mother
After WrestleMania 20 was done and dusted with, JBL was pushed to the Moon and went on to feud with Eddie Guerrero for the WWE title. JBL failed to win the title at Judgment Day 2004. In the midst of this rivalry, JBL came out during a SmackDown live event and attacked Eddie in the ring.
In an incredibly heartbreaking visual, JBL confronted Eddie’s mother and pressed her shoulder. She immediately collapsed to the ground and suffered a heart attack (in storyline), angering the fans to the core.

#7 Dean Ambrose takes a shot at Roman Reigns
On the night Roman Reigns relinquished his Universal title, Dean Ambrose turned heel and attacked Seth Rollins to a chorus of boos. The dastardly heel took it too far soon after, when he mentioned Roman Reigns in one of his promos and talked about everyone getting what they deserve.
Ambrose talked about the promo months later, stating that he couldn’t believe he actually went ahead with it. The promo that Ambrose cut on Reigns can be seen in the video below, at the 3:28 mark.
#6 Chris Jericho brings up CM Punk’s family
On the road to WrestleMania 28, Chris Jericho got into a feud with WWE Champion CM Punk. This was a legit dream match and didn’t need any angle to carry it forward, but it was given one, with Jericho bringing up the Straightedge Superstar’s family and their battle with addiction.
Jericho addressed Punk on the titantron, talking about how Punk’s father was an alcoholic and that that ruined his childhood. In another promo, Jericho mentioned Punk’s sister and her issues with drugs. Punk had the last laugh though, as he went on to defeat Jericho at WrestleMania to retain his title.

#5 Sasha Banks crosses the line
On 12th August 2019, Sasha Banks made her WWE return after WrestleMania 35 and turned heel by attacking a helpless Natalya.
The incident in question took place on the latest episode of Monday Night Raw. As a distraught Natalya was giving a backstage interview on how Sasha Banks’ attack affected her physically and mentally, The Boss came out of nowhere and launched another attack on her. Throughout the segment, Banks trashed talked to the injured Natalya, and finished it up with telling her to go to hell and say hi to her father.
Natalya later took to Twitter and posted a single word in response to Banks’ comments on Raw: “Disgusted”.
#4 CM Punk mocks Paul Bearer
By the time WrestleMania 29 rolled around, CM Punk had lost the WWE title and was a full-fledged heel. He immediately set his sights on The Undertaker and a match was set for WrestleMania.
The Undertaker’s manager Paul Bearer had recently passed away. Punk mocked Bearer’s death during the angle, an act which included Punk stealing Bearer’s trademark urn, and taunting The Undertaker with it. At WrestleMania, The Deadman defeated Punk and took back the urn.
#3 Batista goes full-blown heel
The Bragging Rights 2009 PPV saw Batista turn heel by attacking his longtime friend Rey Mysterio, after The Animal lost a Fatal Four-Way match for the World title. The two met at Survivor Series 2009, where Batista hit three Batista Bombs on Mysterio, forcing the referee to stop the match.
On an episode of SmackDown, Mysterio mentioned Eddie Guerrero while trying to reason with Batista. The Animal responded with “Eddie’s dead”, getting incredible heel heat from the live crowd.
This came in as a shocker to everyone in attendance, considering how close Guerrero and Batista were back during his final days. Batista went on to defeat Mysterio in a Street Fight on SmackDown, but lost a No. 1 contender’s match against him for The Undertaker’s World title. The feud soon came to an end and Batista set his sights on WWE Champion John Cena.
#2 Paige mentions Charlotte’s deceased brother
At Hell in a Cell 2015, Charlotte retained her Divas title against Nikki Bella, and got into a rivalry with Paige. Charlotte successfully defended her title against Paige at Survivor Series, an episode of Monday Night RAW, and the TLC PPV.
The contract signing for their Survivor Series match saw Paige mentioning Charlotte’s brother Reid Flair. She talked about how Charlotte’s brother “not having much fight in him”, resulting in Charlotte launching a beatdown on Paige.

#1 Randy Orton takes it too far
As WrestleMania 22 drew closer, Rey Mysterio was all set to compete in the World title match at The Show of Shows, after winning the Royal Rumble Match. Randy Orton had other plans in mind though.
He confronted Mysterio on an episode of SmackDown and asked for a match with the WrestleMania opportunity on the line. As Mysterio looked up, addressing his deceased friend, Orton told him that Eddie’s not in Heaven, but in Hell.
The fans, shocked at what Orton had just said, showered him with boos, as an irate Rey hit a low blow on him. Mysterio went on to win the World title at WrestleMania 22 by pinning Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match, dedicating his victory to Eddie Guerrero.
