Drinking games seem to be the basis for every social television viewing, anywhere from watching Game of Thrones, The Superbowl and yes, most definitely WrestleMania. Every drinking game has its standard rules, for example at a WWE screening it could be one drink if you fail to predict a correct result, or everyone must down their drink if there is a surprise return. However, WrestleMania 34 has some unique events that may have you raising your glass whether you want to or not.
It would be overkill if you used all of the rules so pick the ones you like the most or get creative and comment below with new ideas!
Remember to always drink responsibly, know your limits. It is important that you have fun, just make sure to only drink in moderation. After all, you will want to enjoy the show itself, and not have your head stuck down your own Superdome in your bathroom. If you’re out watching the show get a taxi or a sober friend that you can trust to drive you home.
Most importantly stay safe.
#1 The Yes Movement
As they say “Go hard or go home”. This one could get messy.
Daniel Bryan has been cleared to return to his wrestling duties, and he now has his keen eyes set on Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn, alongside his highflying Smackdown Live colleague Shane McMahon.
The WrestleMania crowd is sure to be in fine form from the get-go, so imagine having to take a sip of your drink every time the crowd shouts ‘Yes’. From his entrance to his in-ring kicks, yes chants could be echoing for days to come.
Not only that, yes chants could pop up at any moment during the show. There is no doubt this is a tough ask, and there might not even be enough drinks for this rule to go around.
Rule: Take a drink every time you can clearly hear the word ‘Yes’ being chanted by the audience.
#2 Nakamura taunts
The flamboyant strong-style Superstar has been nothing short of a sensation since appearing in the WWE, and quite simply because of his over-the-top persona. From his lavish hand flicks on his way to the ring to his electrifying ‘yea-oh’ in the middle of the ring, Shinsuke Nakamura knows how to make the most out of his actions, even when he isn’t physically connecting with his opponent.
It would be appropriate to drink every time Nakamura taunts with his rage inducing ‘come on!’. But why stop there. He will often gesture with hand movements in some way or another, or his shout when he sets up for the Kinshasa. All are drink worthy. Best throw in any use of Good Vibrations as well.
Rule: Take a drink every time Nakamura taunts Styles, uses various hand gestures or crazy artiste movements in the match, or when Nakamura uses Good Vibrations.
#3 Running Power Slams
It seems that every time Braun Strowman goes to the ring to decimate an opponent, he somehow manages to get embroiled in a need to powerslam them as many times as possible before the audience gets bored. Therefore, taking a drink for every running powerslam seems fair.
But also, Strowman is to potentially have a partner in his match against The Bar for the tag team titles. You have to imagine there is every probability that Strowman is not keen on his partner, and at the end of the match, decides to powerslam the partner into oblivion. For that, I think a few drinks of your pint will match up to that.
Rule: Take a drink every time Braun Strowman Powerslams an individual and take 3 drinks every time he Powerslams his partner.
#4 Bourbon Street
It seems that commentators like to get creative when it comes to the cities that are hosting The Grandest Stage Of Them All. Now that we are in New Orleans, it seems likely that the famous touristy Bourbon street is going to get this treatment.
Who knows who will mention it, or in what context it will turn up in, it just seems a safe bet that Corey Graves and Michael Cole may fight unknowingly over how many times they will mention the Louisiana city street. They might even bring up the well known and popular Mardi Gras celebration that is so famously held there.
Rule: Every time Bourbon street is mentioned, take a drink (of Bourbon if it is in your collection) Also take a drink if they mention a New Orleans landmark or the Mardi Gras celebrations.
#5 I wonder Who… it could possibly be?
Surprise returns or roster additions are a mainstay event of WrestleMania. It is such an exciting rule that it should be included in everyone’s drinking game. The possibilities are wide open.
There has been speculation over the awaited return of Bobby Lashley. Or perhaps after Bray Wyatt’s final deletion, could he return as Husky Harris like many are suggesting? You could be drinking a few during the Andre the Giant Battle Royal, as a few participants are likely to be call-ups from the NXT roster.
Who can question the excitement for a surprise return? We all remember when the Hardys turned up last year, and I think equally many people are looking to toast a drink to another exciting and unexpected return.
Rule: Have a drink every time a Superstar makes a surprise return, or a new addition is brought to the main roster.
#6 Suplex-F5-Superman Punch-Repeat
If you are like me and you are not too interested currently in the Reigns vs Lesnar match, you could just add a ton of fun to it. Sure, we all know almost 100% who is going to win, and it is on course to be a highly predictable match.
However, one thing that is still unpredictable is how many Suplexes, Spears, Superman punches and F5s are going to be used in the match. Quite a lot I would imagine. Also, could it be up for debate that there maybe be some move stealing, I’ll drink my whole pint if Lesnar hits a Superman punch on Reigns.
Rule: Take a drink every time a German Suplex, F5, Superman Punch, or a Spear is used in the match between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.
#7 Waving Hall of Famers
Every year we get to see the new crop of Hall of Famers come out to the stage as they are cheered and welcomed by the WrestleMania crowd. Some just walk out, some re-enact their persona, some might clap, and some just stare in adulation at the reciprocity from the crowd.
But a swig of your drink every time one of them waves to the audience would be quite an interesting way to go. It is also extremely hard to judge as well, they could all be vigorously waving the whole time, or not at all. The only way is to stipulate this rule and see how it goes!
Rule: Take a drink every time a Hall of Famer waves to the crowd during the stage ceremony.
#8 Unique Wrestlemania entrances
We all love those unique entrances, whether it is the iconic Shawn Michaels on a zip line, or the few dozen John Cenas, or Rusev in a tank. It has even gone as far as NXT embracing this for its various superstars at its Takeover shows.
With that said, I think it is almost a certainty that Bobby Roode will drop down slowly whilst on a scissor lift that is covered in blue and gold sequins. So the idea should be to take a drink every time someone does something considerably over-the-top or unique with their entrance.
Rule: Take a drink every time a Superstar arrives at the ring via a unique and over-the-top Wrestlemania style entrance.
#9 Rousey’s move list
In the Angle and Rousey vs HHH and Stephanie McMahon match, there is 100% possibility that all the limelight will be directed towards Rousey. It is the ultimate showcase for her ability in the ring, and it will be on her to prove she can translate her skills from the octagon to the squared circle.
Therefore, I predict a lot of hip tosses, plenty of suplexes and an insurmountable number of submissions on display. I think it could also be very credible that Angle and Rousey initiate an Anklelock on their counterparts at the same time in the ring.
Rule: Take a drink every time Ronda Rousey uses a hip toss, any variety of suplex, or any variety of a submission manoeuvre. Down your drink, if Rousey and Angle both perform an Anklelock in the ring at the same time.
#10 Everyone drinks from a ‘Dirty Pint’ if Taker loses
Though the match with John Cena vs The Undertaker seems very likely, I find it hard to see what the outcome would be. To me, it seems strange to bury The Undertaker once again (pardon the pun). That said he does just draw a crowd, regardless of the result.
So away from the typical rule of taking a sip of your drink, if The Undertaker loses the match, everyone should mix their drinks into what is often called a ‘dirty pint’, once it is mixed, everyone one in the room should take an equal share of the mix and down it in one go, and then go to bed, because all is lost if The Undertaker loses.
Rule: If The Undertaker loses, everyone mixes their drink, whatever it is, into a communal glass, which is then handed out to each individual to drink an equal share.
Once again remember these are only ideas for a drinking game, you should not try to attempt them all. Be responsible, and have fun.
