RELATED: Best RPGs Where Your Class Actually Matters
This is most visible on the Genshin Impact subreddit. And while some of the hot takes expressed by the members of this wildly popular community (over 1 million people) are actually perfectly valid criticisms of the game and its mechanics, others have outraged Genshin Impact players and led to some fiery arguments.
10 Fischl Is Overrated
Fischl is many players’ favorite character, mainly because of her powerful Elemental abilities, as well as her normal ranged attacks that, when charged, can release huge bursts of Electro DMG, making the character insanely helpful for prolonged fights, where one simply cannot afford to wait for an Elemental Skills and Bursts to recharge.
Certain Redditors, however, claim that she is much too overhyped, and can actually only suit a narrow range of playstyles, rendering her rather useless as a main DPS character. This opinion is truly unpopular, given how many Genshin Impact fans swear by her as one of the best characters to appear in the game so far.
9 The Resin System Makes Sense
Most Genshin Impact fans hate the resin system with a fiery passion. However, not everybody has jumped on the resin hate train. According to some Redditors on an “unpopular opinion” thread in the Genshin Impact subreddit, the resin system actually plays a viable and important role in the game.

It prevents players from exploiting Ley Lime Blossoms, Domains, and Bosses to hoard rewards and disincentivizes creating accounts that, with the use of bots, focus on grinding out these rewards and then reselling these accounts for real-world money. When put that way, this particular unpopular opinion makes quite a bit of sense.
8 Lumine’s Character Design Is Bad
Lumine, also known as the Female Traveler, is the main character in Genshin Impact, or, had the players chosen Aether (the male version of that same character), she is the lost sibling that the Traveler has set out to look for in the main storyline of the game.
Many Reddit disputes have transpired about which one of the siblings is the canon version of the character. Some users have outright come out and claimed that Aether is the canon character, simply because of his more detailed character design, compared to the rather bland design of Lumine, who looks like a cliche Anime princess. Of course, design taste is a deeply personal matter, so these opinions have stirred up quite a bit of controversy on the game’s forums.
7 Oceanid Is A Fun Boss To Fight
Many players hate fighting the Oceanid because of the way the very unique way this fight is structured when compared to other boss fights in Genshin Impact. Instead of fighting the Oceanid itself, gamers are tasked with getting rid of the water creatures it summons to attack them. While in other boss fights, players need to directly attack the creature, fighting multiple strong water monsters at once makes for a daunting task for many Genshin Impact fans.
Some Reddit users, however, have a different opinion of this fight, claiming that its uniqueness is what makes it so fun and that players complaining about it need to simply “git gud”. They’re in the minority, but they have a point: after the few first times, most Genshin Impact boss fights do turn into boring grind fests, whereas the Oceanid battle does, indeed, require a bit more creativity.
6 Noelle Is Very Powerful
The Geo element is by far the least popular one among Genshin Impact fans. Characters who use it and their abilities tend to be mostly defense-oriented, which, according to most players, is far less exciting than the destructive powers of elements like Pyro or Electro.
However, many Redditors claim that due to Noelle’s Sweeping Time elemental burst, which can wreak havoc among enemy ranks with an exceptionally large attack AoE, and the capacity to be multiplied endlessly with various artifacts. Developing Noelle into one of the most formidable characters is certainly possible, but it definitely requires a whole lot of effort and dedication, not to mention a very difficult grind to get her to a point where she can effortlessly do away with any threat.
5 Bennet Is Overhyped
It is no secret that Bennet is a fan-favorite character in Genshin Impact. As a four-star Pyro character, he is not as difficult to get as some other powerful Genshin heroes, but he is as strong as most of the rarest characters, if not stronger than some of them. His quirky personality and notorious bad luck further increase his likeability.

Not all Genshin Impact players seem to hold him in such high regard, though. The unpopular opinion that Bennet is overhyped regularly makes its rounds on the Genshin Impact subreddit, but users don’t seem to be able to back it up with too many facts, other than finding his personality annoying.
4 Bennet Should Be The Main Character
Regardless of which gender of the Traveler players consider being canon, many within the Genshin Impact community agree on one thing: the Traveler is terribly bland and uninteresting as a person. Their backstory is lackluster, not to mention the fact that they never really say anything, and the bulk of their interactions is done through Paimon.
Of course, this is done by design: the Traveler is merely a stand-in for the player, and with the main story not being the main focus of the game, it is only fitting to refrain from giving them an over-the-top personality. For some fans, though, this is a major flaw in Genshin Impact. They suggest that if Bennet was the title’s main character, his loveable personality and flair would draw in many plot-focused gamers, who shunned Genshin due to not enough attention being given to the protagonist and their story.
3 Daily Rewards Are Bad For The Players
Daily login rewards are a common feature in most live-service games, and Genshin Impact is no exception. Not only does the title reward gamers for simply opening up the game every day, but also for performing certain tasks and completing radiant quests. Most players would agree that getting some in-game goodies on a daily basis is a good thing, but there are some who don’t share that opinion.
RELATED: Most Annoying Mechanics In Open-World Games
Certain Redditors feel like the daily reward system in the game can have a detrimental effect on the habits of younger players, as well as those who are prone to addiction. Alongside the gacha mechanics, and it’s easy to see where these fans are coming from: systems incentivizing players to spend a minimum amount of time in the game world every day may get very unhealthy quickly.
2 Spiral Abyss Is “Garbage”
The Spiral Abyss challenge is many Genshin Impact players’ favorite part of the game. It revolves around completing increasingly difficult combat scenarios in a limited period of time. Spiral Abyss demands high levels of skill and the ability to dish out outrageous amounts of damage with every hit.
Not all players appreciate the current formula of this game mode. In this Reddit thread, many users point out that Spiral Abyss is not much more than a glorified stat check, as due to the unforgiving timer and relentless hordes of enemies, beating some levels is impossible without a high enough DMG multiplier, regardless of how skilled a player might be.
1 Pyro Is The Worst Element
There are very few things that the Genshin Impact Reddit community agrees on, but one of them is the fact that Pyro is pretty much always useful. Having at least one Pyro-aligned character in one’s party is a must in the eyes of most fans.
Nevertheless, there are still some Pyro haters within the Genshin Impact community, but they don’t seem to have any other arguments for not claiming that it’s the worst element, other than just not liking it. Kudos to them for challenging themselves more than other Genshin Impact players!
