RELATED: Mistakes Everyone Makes While Playing Story Of Seasons: Pioneers Of Olive Town

The obvious farmhand and pioneering jobs such as feeding the animals and growing fodder are simple, but what about those which the tutorial doesn’t mention? As it turns out, this game is full of awesome features that go beyond the classic Story of Seasons routine.

10 Town Hall Gives Out Achievement Awards & Medals

There are just some things that SoS leaves players to figure out on their own, outside of the tutorial. One of them is the achievements awarded at the town hall. When different titles are earned for farming, logging, cooking, and the like, certain achievements are unlocked. However, this isn’t the unspoken secret.

What many don’t realize is that these correspond with actual physical rewards in the form of medals or gifts, which can then be sold off for money. Be sure to check Olive Hall often to claim awards.

9 It’s Possible To Catch A Whopper Of A Fish

Fishing is common knowledge in SoS, and there’s a pretty helpful tutorial that accompanies it. Still, it doesn’t cover everything there is to know about reeling in a winner.

The shiny fish that can be caught and sold for a stunning rate can only be achieved under certain conditions, but there is a telltale sign to know if you’ve hooked one. If two exclamation marks appear around the reel bar, chances are there’s a big ‘ol baddie on the other end.

8 Extra Storage Boxes Are Better Than Inventory Upgrades

In order to unlock both stone and wooden storage boxes, players need to be at lv 3 Logging and lv 3 Mining first. Once this happens, three logs or 50 stones are all that they need to create new boxes to store their items.

This is much easier than constantly upgrading backpack storage and allows players to store anything, not just tools. However, it’s not necessarily detailed in the game’s tutorial, so many players have to figure it out themselves.

7 Mines Are Deeper Than You Think

The first mine players access goes down ten floors, and the second goes down 20 floors. The third mine, which is unlocked in the third section of the farm, goes down 50 levels. When players get to the bottom of each, they’re rewarded with special gems. These can then be sold for a significant amount of money.

Reaching the lower floors, however, can be confusing. When it looks like there’s no ladder down, it means the player needs to hit a rock in a DOS-era Minesweeper-type of gameplay. Guess the correct rock, and the ladder unlocks.

6 How To Boost Stamina While Exploring

It’s easy enough to pass out in the middle of a mine when the player’s stamina gets down to a heart or two. Obviously, this is a massive pain for players who have made it to a significant floor level, because it means restarting the next day.

To avoid this, certain meals can be cooked to increase stamina and even provide extra heart levels. Upgrade backpack storage and stash a few in the backpack for easy stamina boosts on the go.

5 Talking Is Great, But Giving Gifts Is Better

One of the biggest wow-factors of SoS is the ability to marry NPCs. This is something that many other simulators of this type lack, however, it is a slow-going process.

The best way to build up a relationship with someone is to talk to them and exchange a gift. Players will notice that talking gives off sparkle emotes, but giving a gift gives extra emotes that boost relationship scores. Players can do this once a day.

4 Accidentally Planted Something? Here’s How To ‘Erase’ It

This has was probably the bane of many player’s existences. Many have been forced to go to YouTube or Google in search of how to un-plant something they have planted accidentally.

The secret to this is to use the mallet to pound the plot of land on which the seeds have been planted. It won’t destroy the seeds but it will undo the move. If the player hits a spot twice, it will also erase the plot that’s been tilled.

3 Utilize The Backpack For ‘Secret’ Storage

That inventory isn’t just there for show. By going into the main menu, players can scroll all the way to the bottom to find the backpack storage (something that’s not always visibly selectable). They can use this space order to store extra tools.

This way, players won’t need to look like a scary super-villain running around with an ax because there’s nowhere to store it out of sight!

2 How To Rid Property Of Tree Saplings

It’s frustrating when at least ten tree saplings pop up per day on recently maintained land, especially since they aren’t vulnerable to the ax. It’s even more frustrating when these saplings make it to adulthood because some trees require one chop, while others require ten.

In order to prevent this, players must use the mallet to pound the saplings (similar to un-tilling plots of land). It’s not immediately clear to the player, but it’s the only way.

1 Find Town Upgrades By Checking This Area Of Olive Hall

Olive Hall is easy to bypass because there’s not much to it. The bulletin board is also pretty easy to miss unless players walk right up to it and notice the ‘read’ prompt.

By reading the messages on the bulletin board, players can unlock new upgrades and areas of the town after completing the tasks. There’s a reason some of those buildings aren’t open or completed yet!
