But, learning these somewhat-hidden features can save you both time and energy, eliminating difficulties and fast-tracking tasks. Other things you might not be aware are possible will also advance the story or just add a bit of fun and humor. Here are some of those things, and just a few other things you can do that you might not have realized.
10 Find Koroks
The long, tedious, headache of a side quest from Breath of the Wild has returned, to the delight of some and the chagrin of others. That’s right — the playful and mischievous Koroks are back, and they’re as hard to find as ever.
This time, though, they are more easily missed since you don’t spend hours combing over the land casually. You’re in a heated battle against thousands that’s extremely fast-paced and intense. However, find some Koroks, and their seeds can both expand your weapons inventory and power up Hestu’s maracas.
9 Skip Collecting Drops
One of the nicest things about Age of Calamity is that, amid all the fast, exhilarating battles, you don’t need to stop and collect the monster drops or open the chests that spawn after bosses are defeated.

The game doesn’t tell you this, but you may notice that as you walk away from a large fight, the materials will fly toward you. You don’t need to collect drops or open chests — it’s done automatically. You do need to open the hidden chests scattered around the area, though.
8 Play With Terrako on the Loading Screen
This pointless little feature doesn’t provide any helpful benefit or new information, it’s just a little bit of lighthearted fun. But, if you press B while on the loading screens between levels, Terrako, the mini guardian, will jump.
You can press it repeatedly to make it keep jumping, while the other characters you’ve unlocked march on. It doesn’t serve any purpose, so just enjoy it while you wait!
7 Make More Money By Selling to the Right Merchants
Sometimes, in games, every merchant will buy anything you have for the same price, regardless of what it is. Other games have merchants that pay more or less for your stuff depending on what it is. Age of Calamity is the latter, which can either be great or annoying depending on how you look at it.
But, if you’re hard-pressed for cash, it’s nice to know that you can get a premium for some of the extra materials you have sitting around. The Gerudo merchant who sells stones will buy them for a higher price, a Hylian fisherman merchant will buy bugs at a premium, and so on.
6 Uncover Secret Weapon Seals
You may have noticed that some weapons have seals, which provide certain boons in battle. The blacksmith, when unlocked, gives a brief explanation on how combining weapons affects their respective seals.

However, the game doesn’t tell you that weapons have two secret hidden seals. These secret seals can only be seen once the weapon reaches its max level. These seals are more powerful than ordinary ones and provide much stronger benefits. In order to raise a weapon to its maximum level, though, you’ll need to complete two quests: A Monumental Undertaking and The Legendary Blacksmith.
5 Save Time on Leveling New Fighters
You will unlock some characters long after your main squad has leveled up to super-high levels, often somewhere in the 40s or 50s. Luckily, you don’t have to level up new characters this far, as they take on the average level of your character when you unlock them.
The downside to this is that they will be severely under-leveled if you have a character that you never use at a detrimentally-low level. That character will drag down your average, so use the Military Training Camp to level them up to the rest of your party, and the new characters you unlock will be higher levels as a result.
4 Shoot the Hinox Eye
In Breath of the Wild, one of the main ways to take down a Hinox would be to shoot an arrow right into its singular eye. It’s not as obvious in Age of Calamity, but this is possible if you’re playing as Link with a one-handed weapon equipped.
Pressing ZR will bring out Link’s bow, and if you shoot a Hinox in the eye, it’ll take much more damage than hacking and slashing at it with your sword.
3 Do More Damage With Elemental Attacks
Another super valuable skill the game doesn’t explicitly point out is that elemental enemies will go down faster if you use the opposite element on them. The main use for this feature is taking down Wizzrobes and bosses that are equipped with ice or fire.

Using a fire rod attack on an ice-based enemy — and vice versa — will immediately expose their weak point gauge, and it’ll be extremely fragile. Additionally, striking enemies in water with an electric attack will zap them for major damage.
2 Destroy Trees and Boxes
It wouldn’t be a Zelda game without the ability to smash a ton of property and collect the goodies you find inside, would it? It’s no surprise, then, that you can break open boxes, jars, and other containers around the various maps for a variety of materials and even some rupees.
Additionally, some trees on the terrain can be chopped down (or blasted down), though it doesn’t have much immediate use or benefit.
1 Get the Secret Ending
Like many modern games, Age of Calamity features an additional ending beyond the regular one the game shows when you beat the main missions. After the final mission, several quests and side missions will appear on the overworld map based around Terrako.
You’ll have to collect the various pieces of this small pal, with fifty to collect in total. Once you find them all, you’ll unlock an extra cutscene and Terrako will become a playable character. A new set of credits will roll, as well.
