Here’s a list of ten things you should know about the next big thing.
#1 Avesh made his Ranji debut for Madhya Pradesh in 2014-15. The match was against Railways on the 7th of December 2014 in which his figures were 41 for 2 in 24 overs in the first innings.
#2 The emerging superstar joined the Indore Colts Cricket Club at the age of 14 after which he was picked and groomed by the former Indian opener Amay Khurasiya whom Avesh claims to be his guiding force.
#3 In his 5 first-class matches, the pacer has taken 15 wickets with an overwhelming average of 3.50 and at a crushing strike rate of 27.45. He was the strike bowler for the India U-19 team.
#4 Avesh was India’s highest wicket taker with 12 wickets at an average of 15.08 in the U-19 ICC World cup. He led India’s bowling attack and just relished the responsibility bestowed upon him.
#5 The young speedster bowled at 139.8 kph on the speed gun against arch-rivals, Pakistan when he was only 17 years of age. He wants to be a fast bowler and not just a medium pacer, and likes to throw everything he has in every delivery.
#6 In the match against the Bangladesh U-19 side held at Jadavpur University salt lake campus 2014, Avesh bowled 6 overs of which 3 were maidens, conceding only 4 runs and taking 4 wickets (6-3-4-4). That stands as his best figures till date.
#7 Avesh has a rather deceiving trick up his sleeve, a sharp off-cutter which guided India to its massive 82-run victory over Bangladesh in the U-19 Tri-series held in Kolkata.
#8 Avesh is greatly inspired by his father, Ashique Khan, who also played cricket at the local level. His father used to own a paan shop prior to Avesh starting his cricketing career and now his father is a financial manager at a firm. Despite his humble background, cricket was never an issue.
#9 The young lad has made it clear that he has no idols as such and wants to carve a niche for himself. He means business, wants to play for the country and does not have many indulgences.
#10 Avesh, despite performing well in the U-19 ICC World Cup, was ignored from the IPL auctions. Just as he was feeling low about being left out, RCB summoned him for trial in Bangalore before playoffs last year and he was signed up.
